The Sunday school at St. Peter’s has been studying a variety of topics from scripture. Using a combination of videos, Bible readings, and discussion students are learning about many different topics from both the Old and New Testament. This strategy has proven quite successful despite the wide range of ages of students. Old Testament topics have included Abraham, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Battles BC, The Story of Ruth, David, Solomon, Ester, One Night with the King, Decisive Battles of the Ancient World, Prophecies of Israel, Prophets, Jeremiah, Alexander the Great, and Masada The Fall of the Roman Empire. New Testament topics have included The Gospel of John, The Gospel of Matthew, Acts, The Twelve Apostles, St. Peter, Paul the Apostle, St. Paul the Apostle, and some others. Many of the videos are available for the congregation to borrow, just contact Joyce.
Students have also studied the service. The first part is like the service from the Temple in Jerusalem and synagogues. The second part is the mass. Students learned that the sign of respect before the altar is to the host (bread and wine) in the altar among other things. Each child also chose and studied a favorite psalm.
